Field formats define how values from the Excel file are interpreted and converted during import.

Formats should be selected from the list provided by the system.

When a value is selected in the Local Field column, the system usually fills in the corresponding format automatically. The user can change the suggested format or specify a format manually if required.

The most frequently used formats are available in the Common Formats folder.

Common formats include:

Note

The Fields tab controls data mapping between Excel columns and system fields.

If imported values require additional validation, calculations, object creation logic, or other specific processing, use import handlers.

But there are also formats related to specific system objects in another folders.
And if user needs to create new import template to upload data into.
For example, Employees catalog - it is necessary to use format from Employees group:

Thank you for being FirstBIT customer!
