This tab is available for documents with the Indirect Cost Allocation transaction type. The Allocation tab shows the selected allocation sources in the Allocation Sources (upper) pane and the results of allocation in the lower pane.

The "Project Cost Allocation (create)" form. The Allocation tab

Click the Fill and Allocate button in the upper pane to copy the selected allocation sources from the Sources tab and perform the allocation in accordance with the settings on the Settings tab. If needed, you can add or remove sources and edit the amounts to be allocated (the Amount column) in the upper table.

If the Show Allocation Results only for the Selected Row check box is not selected, the table in the lower pane contains the results of allocation of all costs to the projects (the amounts can be edited). If this check box is selected, the lower table contains the results of allocation only for the cost which is selected in the upper pane's table.

If you need to adjust the allocation results, it is recommended that you do it for each cost separately. For this, select the Show Allocation Results only for the Selected Row check box. You can select the cost in the upper table and review how this cost amount is allocated in the lower table (see the screenshot below).

By default, the Factor column contains factors which were specified for projects on the Settings tab – factors define the proportion in which the cost amount will be splitted between the projects. The last (grey) row shows the sum of factors in the Factor column and the total allocated amount in the Amount column. If you need, you can manually adjust the factors, and the allocated amounts will be automatically recalculated. If you manually change the amounts, the factors will be automatically recalculated.

Also, if you want to allocate only a partial amount of the selected source cost to projects, you can add a row and for the <Not Related to Projects> value in the Project column specify the appropriate factor.

The application checks that the sum of the allocated amounts is equal to the expense amount.
