On this tab, you can enter the sick leave details required for sick pay calculation.
This tab include the following two tabs:

  • Main Information
  • Detailed Information

The Main Information tab

In the Sick Leave Type field, select the relevant type of sick leave.

In the Sick Leave From and To fields, enter the start and end dates. Once you enter the dates, the information on sick leave days used by the employee in the current year appears below on the form.

The Number of Days field is populated with the automatically calculated number of sick days. The message (in blue font) informs about the number of sick days already used by the employee in his or her current year of service.

The Type of Accrual field is populated with the type of accrual associated with the sick leave type.

The Calculation Type field also gets the value from the selected sick leave type.

The Months for Averaging field (which appears only for the By Average calculation method) shows the number of months to be used for calculating the average daily salary.

The Expense GL Account field is populated with the GL account to be used to register the sick leave costs.

In the Expense Item field, select an expense item with which the sick leave cost is associated.

In the Business Activity field, select a business activity to which this sick leave is related.

Use the Calculate button to initiate calculation of the sick pay.

The Accrued field shows the calculated amount of sick pay. To view the details of calculation, open the Detailed Information tab.

The tab includes two panes:

  • The Accruals pane provides information on sick pay amount by interval.
  • The Basic Accruals pane shows the calculation details for the amount selected in the upper pane.

The application calculates the daily salary according to the calculation method selected for the sick leave.

For the by Basic Salary calculation method, the daily salary is calculated as the monthly salary divided by 30. Only the accrual and deduction types listed for the employee in the employment contract are used for the calculation.

For the by Average Earnings calculation method, the daily salary is calculated based on employee earnings during the specified number of months (each month earnings are divided by 30, the sum of the resulting amounts is divided by the number of months.) In this case too, the earning types listed in the employment contract will be used for calculation only if they are also listed for the sick leave type.

The Start Date column shows the employment date for the employee.

If the sick leave type is defined with intervals, then the sick leave duration is divided according to the sick leave intervals. Within each interval, the corresponding interval rates are applied to the daily salary. For example, employee Leila took a 17-days sick leave for the first time in the current employment year (she used 0 days of available sick leave). The company pays 100% for first 15 days of sick leave, and 50% for the next 2 days. If her monthly salary is 4000 Dirham with daily salary 133.33, her sick leave pay amounts to 2213.33 = 15*133.33+2*0.5*133.33.
