Problem: Payable and Receivable VAT figures for the same period differ in VAT Return and VAT Liability Calculation documents.

Solution: Use VAT documents and reports as described below.

1. VAT Return document is created for the selected period only:

The documents that are included in the Payable and Receivable boxes are available in the details of the of each lines of the VAT Return document:

2. Calculation of VAT Liability shows the Payable and Receivable VAT figures on date, BUT NOT for the period.

These figures are coming from the closing balance of Current VAT Payable and Current VAT Receivable GL accounts.
Check them in Trial Balance or Statement of Account (Please refer to the manual: 7.7. Accounting: Reports):

3. Calculate the difference value and try to find the corresponding documents in both (Accounting and Tax reports).

i) If Entered or Deleted/Unposted documents are backdated, and the document date is not within VAT Return period, then this document does not appear in the current VAT Return, but it appears in the Calculation of VAT Liability.

ii) If some figures are manually changed in the VAT Return document, these changes do not appear in the Calculation of VAT Liability. It is calculated according to the system's data, but not to the manually entered figures.

iii) If Tax Payment/Tax Refund was previously entered for the same period, the payment amount is deducted from total amount (in case if the Calculation of VAT Liability document is refilled after posting).
