Problem: How to modify the existing report to display data every year/quarter/month/week etc
Solution: Utilize the "Change report variant" menu with Available Attributes
For example, if the user wants to generate a report where data is displayed by month, with each month's data appearing in a separate column, this approach will achieve that outcome.
In the opened window, adjustments need to be made in the Report Structure section. When the user selects "Change report variant," the Report Structure area will display the default hierarchical structure of the report.
To add monthly grouping columns, the user should perform the following actions:
- Select the "Report" level and click "Add" to insert a new table.
- In the Report Structure area, the Table section will appear without any data :
- Next, the Rows section needs to be populated as it was in the original report. This can be accomplished in two ways: the user can either assign attributes above the table and move them into the table or reselect the attributes under Rows in the Table section.
- The next step is to add a new grouping under the Column section, as illustrated in the images below.
- Then, select the desired period—Month, Half Year, Week, or Day—according to the user's requirements.
- Before saving, the user should ensure that the Report Structure includes the following sections:
Additionally, sorting by Period. Months needed to be added to ensure that the report displays months in chronological order. This can be accomplished by adding a sort order on the Sort tab located in the lower part of the Change Report Variant window.
Afterward, save the changes by clicking the Complete button. The new variant of the report will be generated as follows:
This setting works for common reports like:
Sales Section:
- Sales by Companies
- Sales by Items (Quantity and Amount)
- Sales by Salesman
- Sales by Customer Orders
- Sales by Projects
- Gross Profit
Purchasing Section:
- Purchases by Companies
- Purchases by Items
- Purchases by Purchase Orders
- Purchases by Projects
Money:
- Cash Flow Analysis (in both Accounting and Transaction Currency)
Asset Management:
- Statement of Depreciation
This method works for most standard reports but not for fixed reports where changes are restricted.
